The presence of metabolic syndrome (MS) significantly increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases that lead to chronic heart failure (CHF). The values of NT-proBNP, ST-2, and CRP markers and their mutual correlations were studied in 37 patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) without metabolic syndrome (MS) (group 1) and 37 patients with CHF with MS (group 2). The aim of the study was to determine the features of their changes in patients with CHF complicated by MS, and to rank patients by assigning a rank value to the values of NTproBNP, ST2, and CRP concentrations.

The purpose of our study was to analyze the predictive ability of the multiplicative model of genetic risk of nonlacunar ischemic stroke (IS) for independent samples from Russia. A total of 181 patients and 360 healthy controls were included in this study. The discriminative accuracy of model was evaluated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC).

Cholesterol uptake was studied at the small intestine biopsies taken from patients without intestinal malfunction. Three distinct groups of patients were described: those with low (146 +/- 19) nmol/mm2 per 2 h), medium (455 +/- 18 nmol/mm2 per 2 h) and high (833 +/- 24 nmol/mm2 per 2 h) rates of cholesterol uptake. Positive correlation between cholesterol uptake and intestinal cholesterol synthesis was observed in the last two groups.
