Radiotherapy (RT) has been shown to be a cornerstone of both palliative and curative tumor care. RT has generally been reported to be sharply limited by ionizing radiation (IR)-induced toxicity, thereby constraining the control effect of RT on tumor growth. FLASH-RT is the delivery of ultra-high dose rate (UHDR) several orders of magnitude higher than what is presently used in conventional RT (CONV-RT).

Article Synopsis
  • - The traditional methods for making colloidal crystals struggle to achieve the necessary conditions of uniform thickness, 3D ordering, and large defect-free areas, which are essential for creating photonic structures with tunable properties.
  • - A new approach using the Langmuir-Blodgett process and spin-coating has been developed, enabling the formation of high-quality 3D colloidal crystals with minimal defects.
  • - This innovative technique resulted in polystyrene colloidal crystals that covered about 96.5% of the substrate and showed strong 3D ordering, as evidenced by specific optical properties related to Bragg diffraction.

The crystal structures of nine hexamethyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diammonium (HMB) salts are described: the iodide (2), triiodide (3), succinate (4), fumarate (5), tetravanadate (6), hydroterephthalate (7) and perylenetetracarboxylate (8), as well as pentamethyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diammonium iodide (1) and the metal-organic framework sodium diacetylenedisalicylate-HMB (9). HMB carbonate (10) has been synthesized as an important intermediate for a promising anti-metal-organic framework (`anti-MOF'). All the described compounds are characterized by high solubility in water.

A comparative study of oxidative stress markers (ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) and the blood serum antioxidant capacity) in normal pregnancy and preeclampsia was carried out. The IMA level and blood serum antioxidant capacity increased in the following order: healthy non-pregnant women→healthy pregnant women→patients with moderate preeclampsia→patients with severe preeclampsia (p<0.001).

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) represents a powerful measure of minimal residual disease (MRD) in colorectal cancer (CRC). Although immunotherapy has been widely established in metastatic CRC that is mismatch repair deficient or microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H), its role in non-metastatic CRC is rapidly evolving. In resected, dMMR/MSI-H stage II CRC, adjuvant fluoropyrimidine has no benefit and is not recommended.
