Bone Marrow Transplant
January 2025
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an established treatment for selected patients with inborn errors of metabolism. In this first report from the PDWP-SBTMO, we included 105 patients transplanted between 1988 and 2021 across six Brazilian HSCT centers. The most prevalent diseases were X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (n = 61) and mucopolysaccharidosis (type I n = 20; type II n = 10), with a median age at HSCT of 8.

Benznidazole and nifurtimox are the only approved drugs for treating this condition, but their low aqueous solubility may lead to erratic bioavailability. This work aimed for the first time to formulate tablets of nifurtimox by hot melt extrusion coupled with 3D printing as a strategy to increase drug dissolution and the production of tablets with dosage on demand.

This scoping review aimed to explore the literature and synthesize existing knowledge on the therapeutic use of CO in treating cutaneous wounds. The literature was selected using previously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and 22 articles were selected for data extraction.

The results of the X-ray diffraction revealed that incorporating TiO with the anatase phase maintained the mesoporous structure of KIT-6 (Korean Institute of Technology 6). The scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope images exhibited unobstructed mesopores, validating their anchoring within the internal structure of the support.

Cutinases are essential enzymes in the biodegradation process of synthetic polymers like polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which recognized organisms can break down. Here, we used molecular dynamics and binding free energy calculations to explore the interaction of nine synthetic polymers, including PET, with Cutinase from Fusarium oxysporum (FoCut).
