Factor analysis and clustering of motor and psychiatric dimensions in idiopathic blepharospasm.

Introduction: Idiopathic blepharospasm is a clinically heterogeneous form of focal dystonia, also associated with psychiatric symptoms. The identification of the most relevant sets of motor and psychiatric manifestations may help better understand the specific phenomenology of the condition and delineate blepharospasm subtypes more accurately.

Methods: Patients with idiopathic blepharospasm were from the Dystonia Coalition project.

Introduction: Increased serum uric acid (SUA) levels are found in cardiovascular and kidney diseases, associated with the development of vascular injury. Uric acid stimulates the inflammatory pathways, promotes vascular smooth muscle cells proliferation, activates renin-angiotensin system leading to the development and progression of vascular damage. Renal function-normalized uric acid [SUA to serum creatinine ratio (SUA/SCr)] has been suggested to be a better indicator of uric acid.

Background: Simultaneous bilateral high tibial osteotomy (SBHTO) is a potential solution to treat bilateral medial osteoarthritis (OA) associated with tibial varus deformity. Concerns on the potential problems related to bone healing exists, and most of the surgeon performing SBHTO use bone void filler as associated procedure. This paper aim to evaluate safety and efficacy of SBHTO using locking plate, autologous cancellous bone mobilization and no bone void filler with immediate weight bearing at tolerance protocol.

Impact of renal-adjusted ceftazidime/avibactam in patients with KPC-producing bloodstream infection: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: Bloodstream infections (BSIs) caused by KPC-producing (KPC-Kp) are still associated with high mortality, and the game-changing drug ceftazidime/avibactam has shown suboptimal pharmacokinetics in some clinical settings. Ceftazidime/avibactam renal dose adjustment has recently been identified as an independent risk factor for mortality.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of ceftazidime/avibactam renal dose adjustment on mortality.
