  • The study highlights the increasing importance of medical and nursing services in Japan due to an aging population, with a focus on the need for aseptic preparation services in community pharmacies.
  • It found that only 8% of community pharmacies offer these services and identified significant regional disparities using Gini coefficients and geographic information systems.
  • The conclusion emphasizes that the current distribution of pharmacies providing aseptic preparation is insufficient, and action is necessary to improve access as the population changes by 2050.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of the rising number of community pharmacists in Japan from 2008 to 2018 on their distribution relative to population and inhabitable land.
  • Although the total number of community pharmacists increased by about 1.3 times, the distribution showed better equity per population but not per area of land.
  • The findings highlight an imbalance, suggesting that while more pharmacists are available overall, they are not evenly distributed in relation to where people live, indicating a need for improved access to pharmacies in less populated areas.

Breath-holding pulling exercises are simple and can be performed anywhere for the management of such patients.
