Article Synopsis
  • - This study examined the maximal oxygen uptake (VO) in 88 young, healthy, non-athletic Saudi men, using treadmill exercise tests and breath-by-breath analysis to obtain accurate measurements
  • - The mean measured VO was found to be 41.9 ml/kg/min, significantly lower than VO predicted by several international equations, which generally overestimated the actual VO except for one (Hansen's) that showed good agreement with the measured VO
  • - The findings suggest that the Hansen equation is the most reliable formula for predicting VO in this specific population, potentially due to factors like lower physical activity levels and racial differences compared to Western standards *.

Unlabelled: The current study investigated the impact of different doses of seeds on the symptoms, the cluster of differentiation profile group, and inflammatory markers of mild COVID-19 cases.

Methods: The study was a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. Patients with mild and asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection patients were randomly subdivided into seven subgroups: Group (GP) 1: received charcoal capsules as a control group, and GP 2: received three capsules of whole seeds daily, two capsules in the morning and one in the evening; GP 3: received three capsules of whole seeds every 12 h, GP 4: received five capsules in the morning and four capsules of whole seeds in the evening, GP 5: received one capsule of powder every 12 h; GP 6: received two capsules of powder every 12 h; GP 7: received three capsules of powder every 12 h; all treatment course was for ten days.

Background: Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a convenient to use biomarker of airway inflammation. However, the mutual relationship between FeNO, peripheral blood eosinophil, total immunoglobulin E (IgE) and inflammatory cytokines showed some controversy.

Objective: This study was carried out to determine the accuracy of peripheral blood eosinophil and total IgE to detect eosinophilic airway inflammation as determined by two FeNO cutoff points.
