Background: Re-operation after breast-conserving surgery for invasive breast cancer is variable among centres and individual surgeons. In this study, we aimed to characterize the current landscape of practice regarding re-operation for invasive breast cancer in the province of Alberta.

Methods: This study was a retrospective review of the Synoptec database for patients undergoing primary breast-conserving surgery for invasive breast cancer or reoperation in the province of Alberta in the year 2020.

To aid in the creation of sustainable structures, scientists have utilized waste materials found in the environment to serve as alternatives for traditional resources in the construction sector. They have undertaken extensive investigations pertaining to this matter. In this particular study, tempered glass as waste glass coarse aggregate (WGCA) was substituted for natural coarse aggregate (NCA) at varying proportions of 15%, 30%, and 45% in the formulation of eco-friendly self-compacting concrete (SCC), combined with hooked-end steel fibers (SFs) at various volumes.

Purpose: Whether changing the institutional practice from general anesthesia (GA) to monitored anesthesia care (MAC) affects postoperative quality of recovery for oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery (BCS) is currently unknown. We designed this quasi-experimental study to evaluate a quality improvement (QI) initiative instituted in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Methods: We chose a prospective controlled cohort study design for this QI study, where patients underwent oncoplastic BCS under MAC in one hospital and BCS under GA at another hospital (control).
