Galcanezumab Efficacy Through the Dosing Interval in Japanese Patients with Episodic Migraine: Post Hoc Analysis of a Phase 2 Randomized Trial.

Introduction: The efficacy and safety of galcanezumab as a preventive treatment in Japanese patients with episodic migraine was demonstrated in a phase 2, randomized, placebo-controlled trial (conducted December 2016-January 2019). This post hoc analysis assessed the consistency of galcanezumab efficacy through the monthly dosing interval.

Methods: Patients with 4-14 migraine headache days/month were randomized (2:1:1, stratified by baseline migraine frequency) to subcutaneous placebo (n = 230), 120-mg galcanezumab (with 240-mg loading dose; n = 115) or 240-mg galcanezumab (n = 114) once monthly for 6 months.

[A case of cerebral syphilitic gumma mimicking a brain tumor].

We report a case of young immunocompetent woman who was presented with a left parieto-temporal mass as the first and single manifestation of syphilis. A 23 year-old woman with no significant past medical history was reffered to our hospital due to 3 month history of headache. She had a single unprotected sexual intercourse with a promiscuous man 6 month before the time of admission.

[Efficacy of intravenous phenobarbital treatment for status epilepticus].

Purpose: Intravenous phenobarbital (IV-PB) therapy was launched in Japan in October 2008. We retrospectively investigated its efficacy and tolerability in patients with status epilepticus.

Methods: Forty-three consecutive patients received IV-PB for status epilepticus between June 2009 and April 2011.

Correlation between periodic sharp wave complexes and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images in early stage of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease: a report of two cases.

We evaluated the correlation between the periodic sharp wave complexes (PSWC) on EEG and the spreading lesions on diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance images (MRI) in two cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). In Case 1, DW-MRI showed increased signal intensity in bilateral caudate, bilateral parietal, and right temporo-occipital cortex at 7 weeks after onset. EEG showed PSWC of 1Hz frequency at 8 weeks after onset.

Putaminal hyperperfusion in dystonic posturing on subtracted SPECT: a case report.

Dystonic posturing (DP) is one of the most reliable lateralizing symptoms for mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, although the mechanism remains unclear. We demonstrated a hyperperfusion area in the right putamen on subtracted postictal SPECT by using the automatic registration technique in one patient with ictal DP of the left hand. The putamen may play a key role in DP, similar to other diseases with dystonia.
