Effects of thiol compounds on methotrexate uptake by murine lymphocytes from thymus and thymic lymphosarcoma.

The characteristics of methotrexate (MTX) uptake and the effects of exogenous sulfhydryl compounds (i.e. reduced glutathione and cysteine) on MTX accumulation in thymocytes and thymic lymphosarcoma cells has been studied.

Synthesis and pharmacological properties of a phthalide derivative containing methoxy groups.

4,6-Dimethoxy-5-hydroxyphthalide 2 was obtained on three routes: by selective demethylation of 4,5,6-trimethoxyphthalide and by the action of formaldehyde on either syringic acid or acetylsyringic acid. Pharmacological tests carried out on rats showed that the product significantly increased bile excretion, its activity being five times higher than those of dehydrocholic acid.

Studies on indomethacin acute toxicity and absorption.

Indomethacin can be found in several crystalline forms, of which only gamma is allowed in therapy. To determine the possible correlation between indomethacin crystalline form and its absorption as well as acute toxicity, a cycle of experiments was undertaken on mice and rats. Significant differences in toxic activity of alpha and gamma forms were stated in mice.

Evaluation of the method of testing on spermatozoa of the local irritant effect of streptomycin.

This report presents an attempt to adapt the method of study of the cytotoxic effect of streptomycin (SM) for evaluation of its local irritant properties. The cytotoxic effect of streptomycin was treated on bull spermatoza according to Dumitrescu (1). Ten series of SM produced by Tarchomin Pharmaceutical Producers, and international standard streptomycin (Is -- SM) were used in the experiments.
