Aim: To study the associations between risk factors, clinical characteristics, severity of brachiocephalic artery (BCA) atherosclerosis and severity of coronary artery (CA) disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Material And Methods: The study included patients with any type of ACS and obstructive coronary artery disease confirmed by coronary angiography. A quantitative analysis of coronary angiography data was performed with an assessment of the number of CAs with significant stenosis and calculation of the SYNTAX score.

Cellular senescence is considered an important tumour suppression mechanism in response to damage and oncogenic stress in early lesions. However, when senescent cells are not immune-cleared and persist in the tumour microenvironment, they can drive a variety of tumour-promoting activities, including cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis. Additionally, there is compelling evidence demonstrating a direct connection between chemo(radio)therapy-induced senescence and the development of drug resistance and cancer recurrence.

The gut-brain axis (GBA) plays a pivotal role in human health and wellness by orchestrating complex bidirectional regulation and influencing numerous critical processes within the body. Over the past decade, research has increasingly focused on the GBA in the context of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Beyond its well-documented effects on the GBA-enteric nervous system and vagus nerve dysregulation, and gut microbiota misbalance-IBD also leads to impairments in the metabolic and cellular functions: metabolic dysregulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, cationic transport, and cytoskeleton dysregulation.

The Friendship Paradox is a simple and powerful statement about node degrees in a graph. However, it only applies to undirected graphs with no edge weights, and the only node characteristic it concerns is degree. Since many social networks are more complex than that, it is useful to generalize this phenomenon, if possible, and a number of papers have proposed different generalizations.

Hitherto, calcified aortic valves (AVs) and failing bioprosthetic heart valves (BHVs) have been investigated by similar approaches, mostly limited to various immunostaining techniques. Having employed multiple immunostaining combinations, we demonstrated that AVs retain a well-defined cellular hierarchy even at severe stenosis, whilst BHVs were notable for the stochastic degradation of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and aggressive infiltration by ECM-digesting macrophages. Leukocytes (CD45) comprised ≤10% cells in the AVs but were the predominant cell lineage in BHVs (≥80% cells).
