Article Synopsis
  • - Negative pressure breathing (NPBin) is a technique that lowers pressure in the respiratory tract during inhalation, aiming to boost blood flow to the heart and counteract fluid shifts in space.
  • - This study analyzed the effects of NPBin for 25 minutes at pressure reductions of -10 to -25 cmHO, using various non-invasive measurement techniques to assess changes in circulation and respiration in healthy volunteers.
  • - Results showed that NPBin increased tidal volume and decreased respiratory rate without significantly affecting overall minute ventilation, while circulatory parameters showed increased amplitude during breathing cycles, indicating a complex interaction between respiration and circulation.

The possibility of creating technical means for controlling the processes of accumulation and conversion of the energies of thermal and epithermal neutrons into the energy of monoenergetic photons due to neutron pumping of an active medium consisting of nuclei with long-lived isomeric states was studied in this work. The system under study consisted of an external pulse-periodic source of deuterium-tritium neutrons (PSN) and a subcritical blanket, which included a variable neutron-collimation beam-shaping assembly (vBSA) and an active medium. The vBSA was composed of moderating blocks and selective plates designed to trap and shape a pulsed neutron flux with subsequent conversion of a millisecond signature into monoenergetic photon emission.

The article provides a review of research literature on the social and psychological peculiarities of working and non-working pensioners with additional new data on their life quality. Six psychographic profiles of pensioners based on their post-retirement activities and motivations for new life path choices were described and examined, enabling identification of the subjects' personality types. These data are essential for psychologists and social workers consulting people approaching retirement age and recent retirees on their retirement lifestyle, ways to organize their working life and effective (creative) pastime, including career development later in life, without sacrificing their physical and mental health.

Novel magnetic nanocomposite materials based on FeO nanoparticles coated with iron and silica glycerolates (MNP@Fe(III)Glyc and MNP@Fe(III)/SiGlyc) were obtained. The synthesized nanocomposites were characterized using TEM, XRD, TGA, VMS, Mössbauer and IR spectroscopy. The amount of iron and silica glycerolates in the nanocomposites was calculated from the Mössbauer spectroscopy, ICP AES and C,H-elemental analysis.
