The radiotherapeutic Pt is among the most effective Auger electron emitters of the currently studied radionuclides that have a potential theranostic application in nuclear medicine. Production of Pt through double neuron capture of enriched Ir followed by β-decay to the radioisotope of interest carried out at the research reactor IBR-2 is described. Because of the high radiation background, radiochemical purification procedure of Pt from bulk of iridium was needed to be developed and is detailed here as well.

There is growing interest in molecular structures that exhibit dynamics similar to bistable mechanical systems. These structures have the potential to be used as two-state operating units for various functional purposes. Particularly intriguing are the bistable systems that display spontaneous vibrations and stochastic resonance.

Imidazolium salts have found ubiquitous applications as N-heterocyclic carbene precursors and metal nanoparticle stabilizers in catalysis and metallodrug research. Substituents directly attached to the imidazole ring can have a significant influence on the electronic, steric, and other properties of NHC-proligands as well as their metal complexes. In the present study, for the first time, a new type of Pd/NHC complex with the RSO group directly attached to the imidazol-2-ylidene ligand core was designed and synthesized.

Mercury (Hg) having a high migration capacity reach the Arctic region via the atmosphere. The absorbers for Hg are sea bottom sediments. Sedimentation in the Chukchi Sea occurs under the influence of highly productive Pacific waters entering through the Bering Strait and the inflow of a terrigenous component from the western direction with the Siberian Coastal Current.

Arctic sea ice retreat is linked to extrapolar thermal energy import, while the potential impact of pan-Arctic river heat discharge on sea-ice loss has been unresolved. We reconstructed the Holocene history of Arctic sea ice and Russian pan-Arctic river heat discharge, combining ice-rafted debris records and sedimentation rates from the East Siberian Arctic Shelf with a compilation of published paleoclimate and observational data. In the mid-Holocene, the early summer (June-July) solar insolation was higher than that during the late Holocene, which led to a larger heat discharge of the Russian pan-Arctic rivers and contributed to more Arctic sea ice retreat.
