Prophylactic use of duloxetine hydrochloride in oxaliplatin-induced first-bite syndrome.

First-bite syndrome (FBS) is manifested as acute and severe pain in the parotid region occurring at the first bite of a meal. While most cases of FBS arise after surgeries involving the deep lobe of the parotid gland, chemotherapy-induced FBS is extremely rare. Some adverse effects of oxaliplatin resemble FBS, suggesting it may be under-recognized.

Association between anti-Müllerian hormone levels and polycystic ovary syndrome in a general cohort of young women in Japan.

Purpose: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) significantly affects women. This study investigated the association between serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels and menstrual cycle disorders, and AMH for PCOS in a general cohort of young Japanese women.

Methods: We measured serum AMH levels in 528 healthy female students at two universities in Japan between 2014 and 2020.

Exciton binding energy (E) is understood as the energy required to dissociate an exciton in free-charge carriers, and is known to be an important parameter in determining the performance of organic opto-electronic devices. However, the development of a molecular design to achieve a small level of E in the solid state continues to lag behind. Here, to investigate the relationship between aggregation and E, star-shaped π-conjugated compounds DBC-RD and TPE-RD were developed using dibenzo[g,p]chrysene (DBC) and tetraphenylethylene (TPE).

Introduction: Incretin-based drugs are extensively utilized in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D), with remarkable clinical efficacy. These drugs were developed based on findings that the incretin effect is reduced in T2D. The incretin effect in East Asians, whose pancreatic β-cell function is more vulnerable than that in Caucasians, however, has not been fully examined.

Background: Double-flap technique (DFT) is a reconstruction procedure after proximal gastrectomy (PG). We previously reported a multi-center, retrospective study in which the incidence of reflux esophagitis (RE) (Los Angeles Classification ≥Grade B [LA-B]) 1 year after surgery was 6.0%.
