The Problem No One is Talking About: Forensic Evaluators' Lack of Familiarity with Dimensional Approaches to Personality and Psychopathology.

Historically, forensic evaluators have relied heavily upon various editions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders when rendering psycholegal opinions. The field of mental health is increasing moving toward dimensional models of personality and psychopathology in lieu of traditional DSM categorical models, though the domains of forensic psychology and psychiatry have been slow to make this transition. The current study therefore sought to examine forensic evaluators' familiarity with dimensional approaches to personality and psychopathology, namely the Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) and the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP).

Current paradigms in refractive surgery.

Refractive surgeries have evolved from the archaic incisional corneal procedures to the use of sophisticated femtosecond lasers and new-generation phakic intraocular lenses (pIOL) for surgical correction of refractive errors. The armamentarium of modern-day refractive surgery includes corneal-based procedures such as photorefractive keratectomy, laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis and keratorefractive lenticule extraction, as well as lensbased pIOL implantation. The current procedures are associated with a high index of efficacy and predictability, with enhanced safety and a significant reduction in sight-threatening complications.

Evaluating the Impact of Tobacco Cessation Counseling on Oral Health-Related Quality of Life and Identifying Barriers to Quitting Among Tobacco Smokers.

Introduction Tobacco addiction is widely recognized as the most significant menace to both systemic and oral diseases, resulting in around eight million fatalities worldwide annually. The current investigation was conducted to assess the influence of tobacco cessation counseling on the quality of life linked to oral health and to identify obstacles to quitting among those who use tobacco. Methods This observational, follow-up study was carried out among patients referred to the tobacco cessation unit for the cessation of their smoking tobacco habit.

Analysis of microbiological profiles of Indian patients with peri-implantitis and periodontitis.

The microbial profile of patients with periimplantis to inqure any unique composition of microorganisms in them is of interest to dentists. Hence, we evaluated the microbial profile of patients with peri-implantitis, patients with periodontitis and normal healthy subjects. 180 subjects were included in this study.

Microphysiological Blood-Brain Barrier Systems for Disease Modeling and Drug Development.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a highly controlled microenvironment that regulates the interactions between cerebral blood and brain tissue. Due to its selectivity, many therapeutics targeting various neurological disorders are not able to penetrate into brain tissue. Pre-clinical studies using animals and other in vitro platforms have not shown the ability to fully replicate the human BBB leading to the failure of a majority of therapeutics in clinical trials.
