[Embolization of the hypogastric artery in postpartum haemorrhage. Case report].

Selective embolization of the hypogastric artery is nowadays commonly used for the haemostasis of gynaecological cancer patients. Also re-embolization is possible in the cases of repeated bleedings. We present this method based on the summary of three obstetrical patients in our hospital.

A population-based case-control teratologic study of acetylsalicylic acid treatments during pregnancy.

Objective: To study the human teratogenic potential of two acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) drugs ASA-100 mg and ASA-500 mg.

Design: Pair analysis of cases with congenital abnormalities and matched healthy controls.

Settings: The large population-based dataset of the Hungarian Case-Control Surveillance of Congenital Abnormalities, 1980-1996.

Monitoring of early human fetal development in women exposed to large doses of chemicals.

The toxicological in-patient hospital in Budapest is responsible for the care of chemically poisoned persons from a population of 3 million. A population-based prospective epidemiological study of all pregnant women admitted from 1985 to 1993 was used to evaluate effects of large doses of chemicals on human fetal development. Of 559 self-poisoned pregnant women identified, two died from the poisoning.

[Genetic counseling in a case of Takayasu arteritis].

Two cases affected with Takayashu arteritis are presented. The adult probanda born in 1960 after genetic counselling and appropriate prenatal care had a healthy liveborn boy. Her previous six pregnancies were terminated on the basis of forced medical reason.
