Background/aim: This study aims to explore the role of NF-kB p65/p50 expression in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and normal controls.

Patients And Methods: Twenty patients with IBS, 19 subjects with IBD and 18 normal controls, who underwent colonoscopy, provided us with biopsies from the terminal ileum, cecum and rectum. Patients with IBS were categorized according to bowel habits.

Fatal Left Ventricular Free Wall Rupture Complicating Acute Myopericarditis.

This is a case of a 59-year-old man presenting with myopericarditis. Over a 2-week period, he developed progressive symptoms and worsening pericardial effusion, leading to cardiac tamponade. Pericardiocentesis revealed hemopericardium, and multidetector computed tomography angiography showed left ventricular free wall rupture.

Pleomorphic dermal sarcoma: it might be rare but it exists.

Pleomorphic dermal sarcoma (PDS) is a rare mesenchymal tissue tumor. Its differential diagnosis from similar tumors, such as low differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, fibrosarcoma, desmoplastic melanoma, atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX), may be difficult, as they have similar clinical and histological presentation. We present a case of an 83-year-old man exhibiting an exophytic scalp lesion.

Immunohistochemical Study of Adhesion Molecules in Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Comparison to Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

Background: The surface of endothelial cells is covered with cell adhesion molecules including E-selectin, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1) that mediate the adhesion and extravasation of leukocytes and play a pivotal role in inflammatory response. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of expression of adhesion molecules in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients, and normal colonic mucosa.

Materials And Methods: IBS and IBD patients along with normal colonic mucosa were recruited in the study.
