Decentralized Clinical Trials at Home: Commentary on Caregivers' Burden.

Decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) provide the opportunity to bring interventional studies closer to participants in their homes or a suitable location closer to prospective participants, thus increasing participants' diversity, accrual, retention, health care, and research access. However, little is known about the burden of caring for cancer patients participating in DCTs. This article describes how DCTs might affect the caregivers of cancer patients.

A novel, de novo intronic variant in POGZ causes White-Sutton syndrome.

White-Sutton syndrome (WHSUS), which is caused by heterozygous pathogenic variants in POGZ, is characterized by a spectrum of intellectual disabilities and global developmental delay with or without features of autism spectrum disorder. Additional features may include hypotonia, behavioral abnormalities, ophthalmic abnormalities, hearing loss, sleep apnea, microcephaly, dysmorphic facial features, and rarely, congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). We present a 6-year-old female with features of WHSUS, including CDH, but with nondiagnostic clinical trio exome sequencing.

Time From HIV Diagnosis to Viral Suppression: Survival Analysis of Statewide Surveillance Data in Alabama, 2012 to 2014.

Background: Evaluation of the time from HIV diagnosis to viral suppression (VS) captures the collective effectiveness of HIV prevention and treatment activities in a given locale and provides a more global estimate of how effectively the larger HIV care system is working in a given geographic area or jurisdiction.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate temporal and geographic variability in VS among persons with newly diagnosed HIV infection in Alabama between 2012 and 2014.

Methods: With data from the National HIV Surveillance System, we evaluated median time from HIV diagnosis to VS (<200 c/mL) overall and stratified by Alabama public health area (PHA) among persons with HIV diagnosed during 2012 to 2014 using the Kaplan-Meier approach.

Synthesis and Investigation of Linker-Free BODIPY-Gly Conjugates Substituted at the Boron Atom.

An efficient synthesis of boron-functionalized cyclic BODIPY-Gly conjugates, using commercially available -protected glycine amino acids and a BF-BODIPY moiety as starting materials, is reported. The existence of two conformers (up and down) is revealed through comprehensive DFT calculations and H and B NMR analyses. The experimental and computational results indicate that all BODIPYs are stable in aqueous solutions at neutral pH and that Fmoc-BODIPY () is more stable than Ac-BODIPY () in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
