Disseminated enterovirus infection treated with intravenous immunoglobulin in a patient on maintenance ocrelizumab for multiple sclerosis.

We present a case of a woman in her 40s with disseminated enterovirus infection in the setting of maintenance therapy with ocrelizumab for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. The patient originally presented with fever, bilateral lower limb swelling and hypoalbuminaemia. She subsequently developed a productive cough and diarrhoea, and a viral respiratory multiplex panel detected rhino/enterovirus.

Phlorotannin-Rich Seaweed Extract Inhibits Influenza Infection.

Seaweed-derived compounds are a renewable resource utilised in the manufacturing and food industry. This study focuses on an enriched seaweed extract (ESE) isolated from The ESE was screened for antiviral activity by plaque reduction assays against influenza A/Puerto Rico/8/1934 H1N1 (PR8), A/X-31 H3N2 (X31) and A/England/195/2009 H1N1 (Eng195), resulting in the complete inhibition of infection. Time of addition assays and FACS analysis were used to help determine the modes of action.

Sensory cues of predation risk generate sex-specific changes in neural activity and behavior, but not hormones, in Trinidadian guppies.

How an organism responds to risk depends on how that individual perceives such risk. Integrating cues from multiple sensory modalities allows individuals to extract information from their environment, and whether and how the brain and body respond differently to different sensory cues can help reveal mechanistic decision-making processes. Here, we assessed neural, hormonal, and behavioral responses to different sensory cues of predation risk in Trinidadian guppies (Poecilia reticulata).
