Chronic kidney disease (CKD) can impair activities of daily living (ADL), reducing quality of life. The influence of biopsychosocial factors on ADL limitations among CKD patients remains unclear. This study aims to investigate associations between these factors and ADL limitations among CKD patients in the Brazilian population.

Inflammatory Biomarker Reduction With Fostemsavir Over 96 Weeks in Heavily Treatment-Experienced Adults With Multidrug-Resistant HIV-1 in the BRIGHTE Study.

Background: Fostemsavir, a first-in-class attachment inhibitor that binds to the viral envelope protein gp120, is approved for heavily treatment-experienced persons with HIV-1 with limited treatment options. We explored changes in immunologic and coagulopathy parameters in the BRIGHTE study: a phase 3 trial that evaluated fostemsavir plus optimized background therapy in heavily treatment-experienced adults with multidrug-resistant HIV-1.

Methods: CD4+ T-cell count, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, soluble CD14, soluble CD163, and D-dimer levels were measured through 96 weeks in participants with 1 or 2 fully active antiretroviral agents available at screening.

Increased Traumatic Brain Injury Severity and Mortality in Undocumented Immigrants.

Background And Objectives: Health disparities related to traumatic brain injury (TBI) have focused on socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity. We sought to characterize TBI patterns and outcomes based on undocumented status.

Methods: Patients who presented to University of California, San Diego Health Trauma Center with a TBI between 2019 and 2022 were identified and stratified based on undocumented status.

Effect of Sleeping Position on the Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer in Individuals with Glaucoma.

Aims And Background: To evaluate the effect of sleeping in the lateral decubitus position on the average thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in the peripapillary region of the optic nerve since the effect of posture on intraocular pressure (IOP) and glaucoma progression is not yet sufficiently understood.

Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was carried out with 40 volunteers who preferably slept in a right lateral decubitus (RLD) (RLD group = 20) and left lateral decubitus (LLD) (LLD group = 20) position. IOP was measured in both eyes, first in the sitting position and again after 10 minutes in a supine position, right lateral, and LLD, respectively.
