A method for mimicking tumour tissue in brain ex-vivo ultrasound for research application and clinical training.

Background: Intraoperative ultrasound is becoming a common tool in neurosurgery. However, effective simulation methods are limited. Current, commercial, and homemade phantoms lack replication of anatomical correctness and texture complexity of brain and tumour tissue in ultrasound images.

Applied forces with high vs. low resuscitation table during neonatal ventilation: a randomized crossover manikin study.

Unlabelled: We compared applied forces on a newborn manikin face, cuff pressure, and air leak during positive pressure ventilation with a high vs. low resuscitation table. A randomized controlled crossover (AB/BA) trial of face mask ventilation where a neonatal manikin was placed on the resuscitation table adjusted to level operator's xiphoid (high table positioning) or operator's navel (low table positioning).

Background: Simulation training provides safe environment for skill acquisition and retention. This study addresses a critical challenge in Africa - umbilical cord and placenta management after childbirth - aiming to bridge theoretical learning with practical experiences through simulation. We realized a new low-cost high-fidelity simulator of placenta and umbilical cord.

Technologies and main functionalities of the telemonitoring application reCOVeryaID.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to take advantage of specific and effective patient telemonitoring platforms, with specific reference to the constant monitoring of vital parameters of patients most at risk. Among the various applications developed in Italy, certainly there is reCOVeryaID, a web application aimed at remotely monitoring patients potentially, currently or no longer infected with COVID-19. Therefore, in this paper we present a system model, consisting of a multi-platform intelligent telemonitoring application, that enables remote monitoring and provision of integrated home care to both patients symptomatic, asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic with severe acute respiratory infectious disease or syndrome caused by viruses belonging to the Coronavirus family, as well as simply to people with respiratory problems and/or related diseases (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or asthma).
