Wild birds are threatened by anthropic effects on a global scale, and their adenoviruses might contribute to their endangerment. Thus, it is important to reveal the real biodiversity of avian adenoviruses, as, unfortunately, this research topic is far from being prioritized. The turkey hemorrhagic enteritis is an economically important disease causing high mortalities, and its causative siadenoviral agent is only distantly related to other avian siadenoviruses in phylogenetic analyses.

Összefoglaló. Az akut coronaria szindrómán (ACS) átesett betegek kezelésének alappillére a kettős (aszpirin + klopidogrél ) thrombocytaaggregáció-gátló kezelés. Az immunthrombocytopeniás purpurás (ITP-s) betegek - és különösen azok, akik refrakter ITP miatt thrombopoetinanalóg kezelésben részesülnek - külön elbírálást igényelnek.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how obesity-related diabetes (DMT2) affects the myelotoxicity of the chemotherapy drug carboplatin, particularly focusing on granulocyte-macrophage progenitors (CFU-GM).
  • The research used db/db mice, a common model for human obesity and DMT2, to assess the impact of carboplatin on bone marrow function and compared its effects to other cancer drugs.
  • Findings indicate that db/db mice experience significantly increased myelotoxicity and neutropenia from carboplatin, suggesting that addressing obesity and managing glucose levels could improve chemotherapy outcomes.

Increased environmental oxidative stress caused primarily by chemicals like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, plays significant role in human diseases. A representative compound, 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA), was used for modeling oxidative damages including the significant decrease of the antioxidant capacity of the blood. Selenium has antioxidant effects but with a narrow therapeutic window.

The effect of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) was investigated in P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1) deficient (PSGL-1(-/-)) and wild-type (PSGL-1(+/+)) mice to establish the role of this mucin in myeloid cell mobilization. G-CSF activates tissue proteases that cleave adhesion molecules, thus enhances the mobilization of myeloid cells and haematopoietic stem cells. Cytopenia was induced with a single dose of cyclophosphamide.
