House dust mites, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus are present in the indoor environments, such as pillows and carpets. In this study, we investigated the mite control effect of branched chain fatty acids (2-ethylhexanoic acid (iso-C8), 2-butyloctanoic acid (iso-C12), isopalmitic acid (iso-C16) and their mechanism of action. These fatty acids showed a higher acaricidal activity than the straight chain fatty acids.

Hartsfield syndrome (HS: OMIM 615465) is a rare congenital disease associated with a mutation of the gene () with the main features of holoprosencephaly and ectrodactyly. Patients with HS also present with endocrinological deficits, such as isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and central diabetes insipidus. Although there are several studies on infancy/childhood history, there is no study of infant/childhood/adolescent/young adult HS natural history and endocrinological findings.

Problem Definition: Insulin, a high-alert medication, is regularly prescribed in the inpatient setting for hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus. Although convenient, insulin pens carry a risk of blood-borne pathogens if the same pen is used on multiple patients. At the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a new nursing protocol for insulin pen administration was developed to ensure that insulin was quickly available and to identify and move to eliminate wrong-patient insulin pen errors.
