Background: The use of several glucose-lowering drugs (GLDs) in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus is common, but their effects on dietary intake have been little explored.
Aim: Our study aimed to examine the association between the number of GLDs used by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and their diet quality and nutrient intake.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional analysis of baseline data from a Brazilian national multicenter randomized clinical trial involving participants with type 2 diabetes mellitus aged >30 years.
Background/objectives: The optimal dietary approach for managing glycemic and metabolic control in type 2 diabetes (T2D) is still uncertain, though it should be tailored for clinical settings. Therefore, we sought to assess the impact of a multicomponent nutritional strategy on glycemic control in T2D patients within a public health system.
Methods: NUGLIC was an open-label, parallel-group, superiority, multicenter randomized controlled trial.

Background: Nuts consumption is related to cardioprotective effects on primary cardiovascular prevention, but studies conducted in secondary prevention are small, scarce and controversial. The objective of this trial was to evaluate the effects of a regional and sustainable cardioprotective diet added or not with an affordable mixed nuts on cardiometabolic features in patients with previous myocardial infarction.
Methods: DICA-NUTS study is a national, multi-center, and superiority-parallel randomized clinical trial.
Objective: This study evaluates the effects of sarcopenia and cachexia on the quality of life (QoL) of patients with gastrointestinal cancer during their initial cycle of chemotherapy, emphasizing the significance of computed tomography (CT) in assessing muscle mass.
Materials And Methods: In this prospective study, we evaluated 60 adult patients with gastrointestinal cancer who started chemotherapy between January and December of 2017. Sarcopenia was diagnosed on the basis of CT findings, and QoL was assessed with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30.
Background: Cardiometabolic diseases cover a spectrum of interrelated conditions linked to metabolic dysfunctions and/or cardiovascular disorders, including systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and obesity. Cocoa is a rich source of dietary polyphenols and has been associated with cardiovascular health benefits. However, beneficial effects of cocoa consumption and appropriate quantities in decreasing cardiometabolic risk factors have yet to be established.
