Presence of Periopathogens in Sinus Floor Augmentation Sites: A Cohort Study.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of periopathogens on bone grafts for maxillary sinus floor augmentation and implant survival.

Materials And Methods: A cohort study was designed. Samples from maxillary sinus floor augmentation sites and from periodontal pockets in adjacent teeth of the same patients were collected during the surgery and following periodontal maintenance and plaque removal.

A Novel Quantitative Multi-Component Serological Assay for SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Evaluation.

A multi-component microarray, applying a novel analysis algorithm, was developed for quantitative evaluation of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines' immunogenicity. The array enables simultaneous quantitation of IgG, IgM, and IgA, specific to the SARS-CoV-2 spike, receptor binding domain, and nucleocapsid proteins. The developed methodology is based on calculating an apparent immunoglobulin signal from the linear range of the fluorescent read-outs generated by scanning the microarray slides at different exposure times.

Investigation of the protection efficacy of face shields against aerosol cough droplets.

Simple plastic face shields have numerous practical advantages over regular surgical masks. In light of the spreading COVID-19 pandemic, the potential of face shields as a substitution for surgical masks was investigated. In order to determine the efficacy of the protective equipment we used a cough simulator.

Luminescent Solar Power-PV/Thermal Hybrid Electricity Generation for Cost-Effective Dispatchable Solar Energy.

The challenge in solar energy today is not the cost of photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation, already competing with fossil fuel prices, but rather utility-scale energy storage and flexibility in supply. Low-cost thermal energy storage (TES) exists but relies on expensive heat engines. Here, we introduce the concept of luminescent solar power (LSP), where sunlight is absorbed in a photoluminescent (PL) absorber, followed by red-shifted PL emission matched to an adjacent PV cell's band edge.

A retrospective analysis of dental implantation under anticoagulant treatment.

Objectives: To present our experience treating patients who have undergone dental implantation under no change in their constant anticoagulant treatment.
