Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with six and eight-strand hamstring tendon autografts produces adequate graft dimensions and functional outcomes: A systematic review.

Purpose: This study aims to summarize the graft dimensions, failure rates, return-to-sport rates and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with six or eight-strand hamstring tendon autografts (6SHG or 8SHG).

Methods: Three databases were searched from inception to 12 February 2024. The authors adhered to PRISMA guidelines and the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions.

Adjustable Loop Fixation in Multi-ligament Knee Injuries: A Technical Note.

Adjustable Loop Fixation devices (ALD) were introduced to allow tensioning and re-tensioning while increasing flexibility of graft length in the bone tunnel. ALDs have shown comparable clinical and biomechanical results when used for anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions. We routinely use ALDs in multi-ligament knee reconstructions.

Yttrium-90 (Y) brachytherapy for squamous carcinoma: Treatment of the conjunctiva, cornea, and sclera.

Purpose: Patients with conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma that present with persisting disease or recurrence following topical chemotherapy and/or surgery especially when invading the sclera are challenging to treat. Herein, we describe the use of high-dose-rate (HDR), FDA-cleared, yttrium-90 (Y) plaque brachytherapy for such lesions.

Observation: Three cases of invasive conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma that had exhibited a poor response or recurrence following topical chemotherapy and/or surgery are described.

Periprosthetic tibial fracture as a complication of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: Current insights.

Periprosthetic fracture following knee arthroplasty is a rare but devastating complication associated with significant morbidity. With unicompartmental knee arthroplasty being performed far less frequently than total knee arthroplasty, periprosthetic fracture following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty presents a particular challenge to orthopaedic surgeons, due to clinical unfamiliarity and sparsity of literature. An up-to-date review of the epidemiology, risk factors, and management strategies for PPF after UKA is presented.
