Background And Purpose:

Hippocampi are the structures located in the medial depths of both temporal lobes, mainly responsible for memory, navigation and regulation of emotions, and activated during the processing of pain and the modification of nociceptive stimuli. Chronic pain is thought to have stress-like detrimental modulatory effects on the hippocampal neurogenesis, and adults with chronic pain have been showed to have lower hippocampal volumes. The present study aims to show the relationship between headaches and hippocampal volume by comparing the right, left and total hippocampal volumes of patients with Episodic Migraine (EM), Chronic Migraine (CM) and Medication Overuse Headache (MOH) to those of the healthy control group using the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique, also by looking into the correlation between the number of painful days and attacks and the current hippocampal volumes.

Article Synopsis
  • Dysregulation of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) like lncTUG1 plays a crucial role in tumor development, particularly in osteosarcoma (OS), although its specific functions and targets remain unclear.
  • In this study, researchers used various methods including bioinformatics analysis, qRT-PCR, and cell assays to examine the relationship between lncTUG1, miR-26a-5p, and OS progression.
  • The findings indicate that lncTUG1 negatively regulates miR-26a-5p and promotes OS growth by upregulating the oncoprotein ZBTB7C, suggesting that targeting lncTUG1 could be a potential treatment strategy for OS.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a non-traumatic separation of the epicardial coronary arterial wall leading to luminal obstruction with subsequent myocardial ischemia and infarction. Herein, we describe an interesting case of acute coronary syndrome due to multivessel SCAD without an underlying susceptibility or trigger, and review the literature for SCAD management.

Background: Sarcopenia is a common and progressive skeletal muscle disorder characterized by atrophic muscle fibres and contractile dysfunction. Accumulating evidence shows that the number and function of satellite cells (SCs) decline and become impaired during ageing, which may contribute to impaired regenerative capacity. A series of myokines/small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) released from muscle fibres regulate metabolism in muscle and extramuscular tissues in an autocrine/paracrine/endocrine manner during muscle atrophy.

Injectable hydrogels offer a new therapy option for irregular bone deformities. Based on gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA), bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), and bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), we created a photo-crosslinked composite bioactive scaffold. The composite scaffolds had appropriate mechanical properties for stem cells adhesion and proliferation, as well as good biocompatibility and the ability to stimulate BMSCs osteogenic differentiation .
