Prevalence of antibodies against dengue virus in the city of Buenos Aires: Results of a probabilistic population survey.

Objective: Dengue is a rapidly growing global health issue. In Argentina, the disease burden is primarily based on case reports or retrospective series; however, there are no prospective probabilistic studies available. To estimate the seroprevalence of antibodies against the dengue virus (DENV) in adult residents of Buenos Aires, at the end of the 2023 season, which culminated in Argentina's largest recorded dengue outbreak, and immediately before the subsequent outbreak at the beginning of 2024.

Characteristics of Abstracts Presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery Annual Meeting and Their Impact on Publication Rates.

Introduction: The publication rate of abstracts presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meetings has increased over the past 15 years. The purpose of this study was to (1) analyze and describe the characteristics of abstracts presented at the 2022 and 2023 AAOS Annual Meetings and (2) evaluate whether certain factors were associated with a higher likelihood of publication.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of all abstracts presented at the 2022 and 2023 AAOS Annual Meeting was done based on the AAOS ePosters archive.

Impact of prior dengue infection on severity and outcomes: meta-analysis of placebo-controlled trials.

Objective: This study evaluated the association between serologically confirmed prior dengue infection and the subsequent risk of virologically confirmed dengue, severe dengue, dengue hospitalization, dengue-related death and all-cause mortality.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library and Web of Science were searched for reports of phase III randomized controlled trials of vaccine efficacy that had data about the placebo group and information about prior infections and were published between January 1994 and March 2024.
