Cerebral pericytes are mural cells covering brain microvessels, organized as ensheathing, mesh and thin-strand pericytes. These latter two, together called capillary pericytes, have low levels of alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), regulating basal vascular tone and applying a slow influence on cerebral blood flow. Pericytes are subject to alterations in ageing which may be even more pronounced in age-related pathologies, including microinfarcts, which usually affect a large number of vessels in the ageing brain.

Background: Our study aimed to examine the well-being of students studying at the three (non-medical) faculties of Semmelweis University Budapest, to analyse the relationships between well-being, stress, emotional support, sleep patterns, sport, and further variables like smoking, consumption of sleeping pills, sedatives, psychoactive agents, energy drinks, and exam anxiety.

Methods: In our cross-sectional study, we asked 561 students of the Semmelweis University of Budapest; two internationally recognised instruments were used: the WHO-5 well-being index and the Perceived Stress Scale.

Results: The mean WHO-5 well-being index was 42.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease, mediated by a complex interaction between B cells and various subsets of T cells. Dysfunction of helper T (Th) and regulatory T (Treg) cells may contribute to the breakdown of self-tolerance and the progression of autoimmune disease. In this study, we investigated the activity of Th and Treg cells on the differentiation of autologous B cells in vitro using cell cultures from the peripheral blood of healthy controls (HCs) and RA patients.

Introduction: Numerous studies have linked deficits in Theory of Mind (ToM) with language problems. We aimed to explore the similarities and differences between children's patterns of performance on a ToM task that requires minimal linguistic skill and a pragmatic inference task that relies on both ToM and language.
