Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed how high sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) levels change in patients after they undergo cardioversion for atrial fibrillation/flutter.
  • Researchers measured hs-cTnT alongside other biomarkers at various time points before and after the procedure, finding that while many patients initially showed elevated hs-cTnT levels, these did not significantly change over time.
  • The findings suggest that the rise in hs-cTnT seen in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation/flutter is not a result of the cardioversion procedure itself, as levels tend to decrease gradually without further significant increases.

Molluscum contagiosum is a common self-limited viral skin infection. The course of the infection often includes tender, crusted, erythematous lesions that prompt suspicion for bacterial infection. However, these signs of inflammation represent a host response that often precedes resolution of the viral disease, rather than bacterial superinfection, and do not require additional antibacterial treatment.

The features of infective endocarditis include both cardiac and non-cardiac manifestations. Neurologic complications are seen in up to 40% of patients with infective endocarditis and are the presenting symptom in a substantial percentage. We describe in detail the clinical scenarios of three patients admitted to our hospital, compare their characteristics and review the recent literature describing neurologic manifestations of infective endocarditis.
