A vibrometer-rangefinder based on principles of coherent optical frequency-domain reflectometry (C-OFDR) is experimentally demonstrated. A self-sweeping ytterbium-doped fiber laser, which does not require any spectrally selective elements and drivers for wavelength tuning, with a sweeping range of 1056-1074 nm is used as a tunable source of probe radiation for the C-OFDR measurements. We demonstrate the possibility of measuring target vibrations in the frequency range from 2 Hz to 5 kHz with an amplitude of down to ∼5 nm at a distance of up to ∼13 m.

Aim: The aim of this study was to apply and evaluate three ultrasound methods to measure the bladder wall in a healthy population using high-resolution applications and to establish reference points and baselines for future research into lower urinary tract diseases, specifically to understand how lower urinary tract disorders affect the bladder wall and to find objective, non-invasive diagnostic tests.

Methods: The study was conducted on 116 healthy volunteers aged 19-79 years old with approximately 10 participants in each decade group.

Results: The following bladder parameters were recorded and measured using a GE LOGIQ E9 XDclear 2.

Humans have been interested in bowel sounds and wondered about their origins for millennia. To better understand the phenomenon, a mathematical model of bowel sound generation was developed based on a spring-mass-damping system. This is similar to vocal folds models for speech.

Background: The purpose of this study was to validate high-frequency ultrasound (HFU) measurement of dermal thickness for quantification of edema in patients with different severities of chronic venous disease.

Methods: HFU measurements of dermal thickness were made with a 17-MHz probe (Philips iU22 Ultrasound scanner, Bothell, Wash) or a 20-MHz medium-focus probe (DermaScan-C, Cortex Technology, Denmark), 7.5 cm above the medial malleolus.

The comparative assessment of the effectiveness of endovascular regional infusion therapy (ERIT) in the complex of treatment of a hepatic abscess in 16 patients was carried out. In 12 patients, it was performed in combination with surgical intervention, in 4--as an independent method of treatment. In patients with a solitary hepatic abscess, it is expedient to include ERIT into the complex of therapeutic measures in combination with abscess puncture under ultrasound guidance.
