The paper studies the influence of magnetic field on magnetic and mechanical properties of Cu-Mn-Al alloy under annealing. The comparative analysis of the magnetic field orientation impact on solid solution decomposition processes in a fixed annealing procedure is held using the methods of low-field magnetic susceptibility, specific magnetization, and microhardness test. The paper highlights changes in the magnetic and mechanical properties of Cu-Al-Mn alloy as the result of change in a critical size of forming precipitated ferromagnetic phase and determines correlation in the behavior of magnetic and mechanical properties of the alloy, depending on a critical nucleus size of forming precipitated ferromagnetic phase.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe paper considers the influence of aging of high-temperature phase on subsequent martensitic transformation in Cu-Al-Mn alloy. The morphology of behavior of martensitic transformation as a result of alloy aging under annealing in a constant magnetic field with different sample orientation relatively to the field direction and without field was studied for direct control of the processes of martensite induction at cooling. Temperature dependences of electrical resistance, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetization, as well as field dependences of magnetization, and phase composition were found.

Possible trends of perfecting the sanitary-and-epidemiological protection of territories in Russia are under discussion. A differential list of extra dangerous viral infections is defined within the framework of the sanitary-and-epidemiological protection of territories.

In the 11 different species examined, total PCBs concentrations were in the range of 11-4500 ng/g (wet wt). IUPAC 105, 118, 138, 153, and 180 were the predominant congeners in almost all the birds.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFConcentrations of organochlorine contaminants including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane and its metabolites (DDTs), hexachlorocyclohexane isomers (HCHs), chlordane compounds (CHLs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB) were determined in the resident and migratory birds, which were collected from India, Japan, Philippines, Russia (Lake Baikal) and Vietnam. Accumulation patterns of organochlorine concentrations in resident birds suggested that the predominant contaminants of each country were as follows: Japan--PCBs Philippines--PCBs and CHLs, India--HCHs and DDTs, Vietnam--DDTs, and Lake Baikal--PCBs and DDTs. The migratory birds from Philippines and Vietnam retained mostly the highest concentrations of DDTs among the organochlorines analyzed, indicating the presence of stopover and breeding grounds of those birds in China and Russia.
