Background: Cows that develop metritis experience dysbiosis of their uterine microbiome, where opportunistic pathogens overtake uterine commensals. An effective immune response is critical for maintaining uterine health. Nonetheless, periparturient cows experience immune dysregulation, which seems to be intensified by prepartum over-condition.

Background: Studies of aging in non‐human primates are important to elucidate primate‐specific mechanisms underlying human aging, including pathological trajectories like Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Evidence of AD‐like brain aging has been reported across the primate order including amyloid beta (AB) deposits, but blood‐based biomarkers are less well‐studied. The goal of this project was to explore the use of validated assays for plasma biomarkers in two new non‐human primate species: coppery titi monkeys (Plecturocebus cupreus) and brown capuchins (Sapajus apella).

Background: The COVID‐19 pandemic is a public health crisis, and its lasting consequences are not yet fully understood. Epidemiological data suggest that low‐ and middle‐income countries, such as Brazil, will bear a considerable burden of COVID‐19‐related comorbidities. Individuals who have survived COVID‐19 often report persistent symptoms, including neurological manifestations such as brain fog.
