Background: Dietary modification is an important component of chronic kidney disease (CKD) management. The aim of this study was to explore the perceptions of people with earlier-stage CKD living in rural Australia about the role of dietary intervention in their health and access to dietetic care.

Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 people with stage 3-4 CKD living in a rural Australian health district.

Worse Morning Energy Profiles Are Associated with Significant Levels of Stress and Decrements in Resilience in Patients Receiving Chemotherapy.

Objectives: Evidence suggests that lower levels of morning energy are associated with higher levels of stress and lower levels of resilience in patients receiving chemotherapy. Study purposes were to identify subgroups of patients with distinct morning energy profiles; evaluate for differences among the profiles in demographic and clinical characteristics, as well as measures of stress, resilience, and coping.

Methods: A total of 1,343 outpatients receiving chemotherapy completed a demographic questionnaire and measures of global, cancer-related, and cumulative life stress, and resilience at study enrollment.

Assessment of radioactivity level and associated radiological hazard in riverbed samples within industrial areas.

Terrestrial gamma radiation is one of the major outdoor radiation exposures to the general public that varies substantially based on the type and geological properties of the soil. The objective of this study is to evaluate the naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) distribution and assess the hazard parameters in the riverbank soil within various industrial zones in the densely populated Dhaka and Chattogram cities of Bangladesh. The mean activities of Ra (37 ± 3), Th (58 ± 4), and K (1129 ± 18) Bqkg in the assessed soil samples were found to be slightly higher than the world average values 32, 35, and 420 Bqkg, respectively.

General dental practitioner opinions on Selection criteria for dental radiography: a qualitative focus group study.

Introduction In the UK, general dental practitioners are exposed to multiple sets of clinical guidelines, including those relating to selection of x-ray examinations. A focus group was convened to explore issues around current guidelines and how a future edition might be improved.Method A purposive sample of seven general dental practitioners in the North West of England took part in a focus group.
