Background: Lactoferrin (Lf), a multifunctional glycoprotein known for its roles in immune modulation, iron metabolism, and antimicrobial activity, has limited therapeutic efficacy due to poor bioavailability. Liposomal encapsulation of lactoferrin (LLf) offers a potential solution by improving its stability, absorption, and sustained release, making it a promising candidate for various clinical applications. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of LLf and plain Lf in cellular uptake, proliferation, and wound healing using HEK-293T and Caco-2 cell lines.

Incidence of a Positive Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Screen-Detected Early Breast Cancer.

Introduction Current guidelines advocate for a sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in patients with invasive breast cancer with negative axillary ultrasonography. However, emerging evidence has contradicted this, and SLNB omission has been found to be non-inferior in selected low-risk breast cancers. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the incidence of SLNB in screen-detected invasive breast cancer.

Background And Objective: The sleep architecture of critically ill patients being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and High Dependency Units (HDU) is frequently unsettled and inadequate both qualitatively and quantitatively. The study aimed to investigate and elucidate factors influencing sleep architecture and quality in ICU and HDU in a limited resource setting with financial constraints, lacking human resources and technology for routine monitoring of noise, light and sleep promotion strategies in ICU.

Methods: The study was longitudinal, prospective, hospital-based, analytic, and observational.

A 13-year-old girl presented with a 3-day history of migratory right iliac fossa pain. Observations and inflammatory markers were normal, and an ultrasound scan was inconclusive. A provisional diagnosis of non-specific abdominal pain or early appendicitis was made, and she was discharged with safety netting advice.
