Using sunlight as the driving force for photocatalytic processes holds great promise for sustainability. As a starting point for developing a material capable of degrading aquatic pollutants using solar energy as a stimulus, this work focuses on synthesizing Au-TiO nanocomposites using the deposition-precipitation method. Characterization of Au-TiO nanoparticles was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).

Background And Aims: Marked divergences in the immunological mechanisms that regulate the pathophysiology of acute and chronic schistosomiasis have a direct influence on pathological outcomes and antiparasitic chemotherapy responses at different stages of Schistosoma mansoni infection. In that way, this study evaluated the impact of combination antiparasitic chemotherapy, involving gentamicin (GEN) and doxycycline (DOX) in combination with praziquantel (PZQ) on the development of acute hepatic and intestinal schistosomiasis in mice.

Methods: BALB/cmice were randomized into five experimental groups, and the formation of hepatic and intestinal granulomas was evaluated by histopathological and histomorphometric analyses, quantification of hepatic parasite load, and biochemical parameters (ALT, AST, ALP, and albumin).

Purpose: The objectives of this study were to identify if preseason assessment variables predict lower limb musculoskeletal injuries in female soccer players and to compare characteristics between injured and non-injured athletes.

Design: 4-month retrospective cohort study.

Setting: An elite women's soccer team from Brazil.

The formation of sterically hindered C(sp)-C(sp) bonds could be a useful synthetic tool but has been understudied in cross-electrophile coupling. Here, we report two methods that couple secondary alkyl bromides with aryl halides that contain sterically hindered C-X bonds: 1) -substituted aryl bromides with nickel catalysts and 2) di--substituted aryl iodides with cobalt catalysts. Stoichiometric experiments and deuterium labeling studies show that 1) [Co] is better than [Ni] for oxidative addition of di--substituted Ar-I and 2) [Co] is better than [Ni] for radical capture/reductive elimination steps with di--substituted arenes.

Background: Piezodorus guildinii (Westwood, Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) causes economic losses in soybean crops by diminishing productivity, impacting grain size, oil content, and germination power. RNA interference (RNAi), a conserved gene regulation process initiated by double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), may be used as a safe technique in integrated pest management strategies. Conjugating dsRNA with cationic polymers, which protect dsRNA from degradation has shown to enhance this response.
