Neurocognitive impairment (NCI) is present in around 40% of people with HIV and substantially affects everyday life, adherence to combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) and overall life expectancy. Suboptimal therapy regimen, opportunistic infections, substance abuse and highly prevalent psychiatric co-morbidities contribute to NCI in people with HIV. In this review, we highlight the need for efficacious treatment of HIV-related NCI through pharmacological approaches and cognitive neurorehabilitation, discussing recent randomized controlled trials in this domain.

Mixed-anion compounds, which incorporate multiple types of anions into materials, display tailored crystal structures and physical/chemical properties, garnering immense interest in various applications such as batteries, catalysis, photovoltaics, and thermoelectrics. However, detailed studies regarding correlations among crystal structure, chemical bonding, and thermal/vibrational properties are rare for these compounds, which limits the exploration of mixed-anion compounds for associated thermal applications. In this work, we investigate the lattice dynamics and thermal transport properties of the metal chalcohalide, CuBiSCl.

Background: Falls in hospitalized pediatric patients represent a serious patient safety concern. Children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders have inherent risk factors that increase the likelihood of injury from falls. The Hematology/Oncology (HO) and Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) inpatient units at Boston Children's Hospital embarked on a multiyear quality improvement journey to reduce inpatient falls in this population.

Article Synopsis
  • Since its launch in 2011, the World Bank's SABER policy tool has been adopted by 59 governments to improve national school-based health and nutrition programs through self-evaluation against international standards.
  • Approximately 65% of sub-Saharan African countries have used SABER reviews, indicating its strong presence in low-income regions where it helps identify key areas for policy improvement and strengthen national programs.
  • The tool has proven effective in tracking policy evolution over time, making it especially valuable for the 98 countries in the global School Meals Coalition, which aims to enhance the support for schoolchildren affected by COVID-19.
