Acinetobacter baumannii (Ab) has emerged in the last decades as a cause of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in tropical and subtropical regions. We previously conducted the first investigation on this topic in France with a case series of severe CAP-Ab in Reunion Island over an eight-year period. In the present work, we aim to highlight the specific aspects of CAP-Ab by comparing our case series with an historical cohort (PAC_RUN), obtained by retrospective chart review (2016-2021) of severe community-acquired pneumonia cases on Reunion Island, in which CAP-Ab was ruled out.

Material And Methods: The incidence of cancers in mainland France from 1990 to 2018 was estimated from incidence data observed in every cancer registry of the Francim network. Incidence was modeled by a 2-dimensional penalized spline of age and year of diagnosis, associated with a random effect corresponding to the registry.
Background: Chest radiographs are routinely performed in intensive care unit (ICU) to confirm the correct position of an endotracheal tube (ETT) relative to the carina. However, their interpretation is often challenging and requires substantial time and expertise. The aim of this study was to propose an externally validated deep learning model with uncertainty quantification and image segmentation for the automated assessment of ETT placement on ICU chest radiographs.

The authors investigated the effect of body mass index (BMI) on clinical outcomes in patients treated with VA-ECMO for cardiogenic shock.
Design: This was a retrospective and observational study.
