The Connective Tissue Architecture of the Cavernous Sinus: An Anatomical Study and Unifying Conceptualization.

Objective: The aim of this study was to synthesize existing knowledge regarding the anatomy of the cavernous sinus (CS), critically evaluate the current anatomical hypotheses concerning its walls, to conduct anatomical dissections, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the connective tissue structure of the CS.

Methods: We performed systematic dissections on 15 fresh adult cadavers. Specifically, 5 specimens were approached laterally, 5 were sectioned in the axial plane, and 5 were dissected using endoscopic endonasal techniques.

Supraorbital eyebrow approach and pterional approach in surgical treatment of ruptured and unruptured aneurysms: a propensity score-matched analysis.

The aim of this study is to reveal efficacy and efficiency of the supraorbital eyebrow approach (SEA) in clipping ruptured and unruptured aneurysms where both SEA and pterional approach (PA) are considered feasible by comparing SEA and PA using propensity score matching. A total of 229 patients who underwent surgical clipping of an aneurysm from 2013 to 2022 and met inclusion criteria were recruited in the study. A study group of 67 patients treated via the SEA and a comparison group of 162 patients treated via the PA were formed.

Salivary oxytocin in autistic patients and in patients with intellectual disability.

Background: Assessing the role of oxytocin (OT) in the regulation of social interaction is a promising area that opens up new opportunities for studying the mechanisms of developing autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Aim: To assess the correlation between the salivary OT level and age-related and psychopathological symptoms of children with intellectual disability (ID) and ASD.

Methods: We used the clinical and psychopathological method to assess the signs of ASD based on International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), the severity of ASD was specified by the selected Russian type version "Childhood Autism Rating Scale" (CARS).

Background: Neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) is a severe pathological condition characterized by involuntary detrusor contractions leading to urine leakage. This condition is frequent after spinal cord injury (SCI). Gene therapy for NDO requires the development of vectors that express therapeutic transgenes driven by sensory neuron-specific promoters.

Late-presenting Plasmodium falciparum Malaria in a Non-Endemic Setting During COVID-19 Travel Restrictions.

We report a case of febrile Plasmodium falciparum malaria in a 36-year-old male patient occurring 14 years after immigration from and more than 12 months since a return visit to the endemic area. The critical need for awareness regarding late presentations of P. falciparum is discussed.
