Factors influencing variance of DNA methylation in vegetatively reproducing plants, both terrestrial plants and aquatic seagrasses, is just beginning to be understood. Improving our knowledge of these mechanisms will increase understanding of transgenerational epigenetics in plant clones, of the relationship between DNA methylation and seagrass development, and of the drivers of epigenetic variation, which may underly acclimation in clonally reproducing plants. Here, we sampled leaves, rhizomes and roots of three physically and spatially separated ramet sections from a clonally propagated field of the seagrass Zostera marina.

Toward Standardization of a Lung New Approach Model for Toxicity Testing of Nanomaterials.

This study represents an attempt toward the standardization of pulmonary NAMs and the development of a novel approach for toxicity testing of nanomaterials. Laboratory comparisons are challenging yet essential for identifying existing limitations and proposing potential solutions. Lung cells cultivated and exposed at the air-liquid interface (ALI) more accurately represent the physiology of human lungs and pulmonary exposure scenarios than submerged cell and exposure models.

Efficacy of a TNF inhibitor in chronic low back pain with Modic changes type 1: The BackToBasic study A randomized controlled trial.

Objective: The efficacy of TNF inhibitors for treating chronic low back pain with Modic changes is uncertain. This study investigated the superiority of infliximab over placebo in patients with Modic changes type 1.

Methods: In this multicenter, randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial, patients aged 18-65 with moderate to severe chronic low back pain and Modic changes type 1 were enrolled from five Norwegian public hospitals between January 2019 and October 2022.

Nitrogen-bridgehead compounds: overview, synthesis, and outlook on applications.

The nitrogen-bridgehead is a common structural motif present in a multitude of natural products. As many of these abundant compounds exhibit biological activities, against cancer or bacteria, these derivatives are of high interest. While natural products are often associated with problematic characteristics, such as elaborate separation processes, high molecular complexity and limited room for derivatization, purely synthetic approaches can overcome these challenges.

The "Doing" of Compassionate Care in the Context of Childbirth from a Women's Perspective.

Women who are giving birth need to be met with compassion and understanding from healthcare professionals. However, there are growing concerns about the perceived lack of compassion in the delivery of healthcare services in general and maternity care in particular. We conducted 15 qualitative interviews with women who had given birth in Norway within the previous year, asking them to describe their experiences of compassionate care.
