Effect of abacavir on sustained virologic response to HCV treatment in HIV/HCV co-infected patients, Cohere in Eurocoord.

Background: Contradicting results on the effect of abacavir (ABC) on hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment responses in HIV/HCV co-infected patients have been reported. We evaluated the influence of ABC on the response to pegylated interferon (pegIFN) and ribavirin (RBV)-containing HCV treatment in HIV/HCV co-infected patients in a large European cohort collaboration, including data from different European countries.

Methods: HIV/HCV co-infected patients were included if they were aged ≥16 years, received pegIFN alfa-2a or 2b and RBV combination treatment and were enrolled in the COHERE cohort collaboration.

Anti-HIV agents. III. Synthesis and in vitro anti-HIV activity of novel 1H,3H-thiazolo[3,4-a]imidazo[4,5-b]pyridines.

The one-pot synthesis of 1H,3H-thiazolo[3,4-a]imidazo[4,5-b]pyridines is described. The antiviral activity against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) of the compounds obtained was explored: 1-(2',6'-dichlorophenyl) (5g) and 1-(2',6'-difluorophenyl)-1H,3H-thiazolo- [3,4-a]imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (5h) exhibit reproducible in vitro anti-HIV activity.

Structure-activity relationships of antitumor thiazolo[3,4-a]benzimidazole derivatives.

A series of thiazolo[3,4-a]benzimidazole derivatives were evaluated in vitro as antitumor agents against 60 human tumor cell-lines. The influence on the antitumor activity of the nature and type of substitution on the phenyl ring at C-1 is examined and a preliminary quantitative structure-activity relationships is presented.
