Piezosurgery in Third Molar Extractions: A Systematic Review.

: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the clinical efficacy, benefits, and limitations of piezosurgery in tooth extractions compared to conventional methods. Piezosurgery has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative, promoting better preservation of soft tissues and bone structures. Understanding its impact on postoperative outcomes such as pain, swelling, trismus, and bone healing is critical for its application in oral surgery; We restricted our search to English-language articles published between 1 January 2004 and 28 August 2024, in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science.

Topical insulin used alone or in combination with drug-depository contact lens for refractory cases of neurotrophic keratopathy.

Purpose: To report the clinical outcomes achieved in refractory cases of neurotrophic keratopathy (NK) through the utilization of insulin eye drops alone or in conjunction with a drug-depository contact lens (DDCL).

Observations: This multicentric prospective open-label uncontrolled case series included consecutive patients with NK refractory to conventional treatment. Insulin eye drops (1 unit/mL) were prescribed 4 times/day in all cases, and a Therapeutic Hyper-CL™ soft contact lens (EyeYon Medical, Ness Ziona, Israel), designed to act as a drug reservoir, was applied in selected patients.

The objective is to offer evidence-based recommendations for the optimal management of gummy smile. A thorough search of the literature was conducted in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, covering publications from 1 January 1982 to 4 November 2024.

Recognising uncertainty: an integrated framework for palliative care in perinatal medicine.

In perinatal medicine, the number of babies with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions is increasing and the benefits of providing palliative care with a holistic, interdisciplinary approach are well documented. It can be particularly challenging, however, to integrate palliative care into routine care where there exists uncertainty about a baby's diagnosis or potential outcome.This framework, developed collaboratively by the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) and the Association of Paediatric Palliative Medicine (APPM), offers supportive guidance for all healthcare professionals working in perinatal medicine across antenatal and neonatal services.
