Background: Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) shortage represents an emerging issue in transfusion medicine. Limited data are available to determine effective strategies for optimal use. The objective of this retrospective observational study was to determine the impact of institutional measures on IVIG use at a large academic center.

The relationship between the seasonal uptake of carbon and its allocation to woody biomass remains poorly understood, leaving a significant gap in our capacity to predict carbon sequestration by forests. Here, we compare the intra-annual dynamics of carbon fluxes and wood formation across the Northern hemisphere, from carbon assimilation and the formation of non-structural carbon compounds to their incorporation in woody tissues.

We analysed transfusion requirements and iron-related outcomes in 101 patients on chronic RCE with a post-procedure haematocrit (Ht) targeted at 34%, which is higher than typically used. A majority were of HbSS/HbSβ0 genotype (n = 72) and enrolled for neurological complications (n = 53).
