Agricultural water is commonly treated with chlorine-based disinfectants, which are impacted by water quality. Understanding how water quality influences disinfectants such as chlorine dioxide (ClO) against pathogenic bacteria is important for creating efficacious sanitation regimens. In this study, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ClO needed to achieve a 3-Log reduction against Shiga toxin-producing (STEC) and was compared across agricultural water samples.

One route for organelle communication is via membrane contact sites, functional appositions formed by molecular tethers. We describe a novel nuclear-mitochondrial membrane contact site in the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii.

Here we review the basic tenets of mitochondrial dynamics i.e.

It arises from the incomplete closure of the omphalomesenteric conduit, which is a true diverticulum at the antimesenteric border of the ileum. Although the majority of patients are asymptomatic, they can present with inflammation, hemorrhage, intussusception, intestinal obstruction, and perforation, among others; this constitutes an important differential diagnosis for acute abdomen.

However, the south/southeast regions of Brazil are known to have a high incidence of PACTs because of the founder effect associated with a germline pathogenic variant of tumor suppressor gene TP53. We aimed to retrospectively analyze the types of variables among hormone production, radiological imaging, tumor staging, histological and genetic features that were associated with the occurrence of malignancy in 95 patients (71% females) with PACTs from a unique center.
