Background: Establishment of Tobacco Cessation Centres across all dental institutions has been made mandatory by the Dental Council of India. To make it a success, adequate knowledge and training, positive attitude and practices are expected by the dental health care professionals. Our study aims to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of dentists towards Tobacco Cessation Counselling (TCC) and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

The 3' untranslated regions (3' UTR) of eukaryotic genes can contain motifs involved in regulation of gene expression or localization at the post-transcriptional level. This study concerns the identification of novel, conserved elements in 3' UTRs of many ribosomal protein mRNAs in Caenorhabditis elegans and Caenorhabditis briggsae. Analysis of the region around the polyadenylation signal in many ribosomal protein mRNAs indicates the conservation of a sequence motif UUGUU occurring both before and immediately after the polyadenylation signal.

Sequence-specific RNA-protein interactions underlie regulation of many mRNAs. Here we analyze the RNA sequence specificity of Caenorhabditis elegans FBF-1, a founding member of the PUF protein family. Like other PUF proteins, FBF-1 binds to the 3' UTR of target mRNAs and decreases expression of those target genes.
