The integration of noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) effectively modifies the electronic properties of semiconductor photocatalysts, leading to improved charge separation and enhanced photocatalytic performance. TiO nanorods decorated with Au NPs were successfully synthesized using a cost-effective, rapid microwave-assisted method in HO and HF media for methylene blue (MB) degradation under visible light illumination. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 physisorption, and UV-vis spectroscopy were employed to characterize the structures, morphologies, compositions, and photoelectronic properties of the as-synthesized materials.

Low-grade gliomas are divided into two main genetic phenotypes based on the presence or absence of mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase () genes. The mutated IDH phenotype (IDHmut), in contrast to the wild-type phenotype (IDHwt), is characterized by a more positive response to pharmacological intervention and a significantly longer survival time. In this study, we analyzed the differential co-expression of 225,000 microRNA-mRNA pairs at the level of correlations between microRNA levels and their potential mRNA targets.

Climatic oscillations are considered primary factors influencing the distribution of various life forms on Earth. Large species adapted to cold climates are particularly vulnerable to extinction due to climate changes. In our study, we investigated whether temperature increase since the Late Pleistocene and the contraction of environmental niche during the Holocene were the main factors contributing to the decreasing range of moose (Alces alces) in Europe.

Article Synopsis
  • Nucleic acid topoisomerases (TOP) are essential enzymes that help manage the structure of DNA and RNA and are targeted in chemotherapy; recent clinical trials reveal a surge in TOP inhibitor investigations.
  • The review highlights 233 unique TOP-inhibiting molecules, discussing their current clinical applications, especially in treating bacterial infections and various cancers, while addressing concerns about adverse drug reactions and resistance.
  • Ongoing research aims to expand the use of TOP inhibitors to novel indications such as glioblastoma and Clostridium difficile infections, suggesting potential benefits for treating a broader range of infections, including viral and fungal diseases, as new drug classes develop.

The aim of the study was to prepare effective low-cost green adsorbents based on spent black tea leaves for the removal of nitrate ions from aqueous solutions. These adsorbents were obtained either by thermally treating spent tea to produce biochar (UBT-TT), or by employing the untreated tea waste (UBT) to obtain convenient bio-sorbents. The adsorbents were characterized before and after adsorption by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersed X-ray analysis (EDX), Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA).
