Post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins dynamically build the buffering and adapting interface between oncogenic mutations and environmental stressors, on the one hand, and cancer cell structure, functioning, and behavior. Aberrant PTMs can be considered as enabling characteristics of cancer as long as they orchestrate all malignant modifications and variability in the proteome of cancer cells, cancer-associated cells, and tumor microenvironment (TME). On the other hand, PTMs of proteins can enhance anticancer mechanisms in the tumoral ecosystem or sustain the beneficial effects of oncologic therapies through degradation or inactivation of carcinogenic proteins or/and activation of tumor-suppressor proteins.

is considered one of the prioritized ESKAPE microorganisms for the research and development of novel treatments by the World Health Organization, especially because of its remarkable persistence and drug resistance. In this review, we describe how this can be acquired by the enzymatic degradation of antibiotics, target site modification, altered membrane permeability, multidrug efflux pumps, and their ability to form biofilms. Also, the evolution of drug resistance in , which is mainly driven by mobile genetic elements, is reported, with particular reference to plasmid-associated resistance, resistance islands, and insertion sequences.

Purpose: To assess the association between neoadjuvant therapy and overall survival (OS) in patients with left-sided resectable pancreatic cancer (RPC) compared to upfront surgery.

Background: Left-sided pancreatic cancer is associated with worse OS compared to right-sided pancreatic cancer. Although neoadjuvant therapy is currently seen as not effective in patients with RPC, current randomized trials included mostly patients with right-sided RPC.

Background: Narcolepsy, a central hypersomnolence disorder, disrupts sleep regulation. Sodium oxybate, a CNS (central nervous system) depressant, is widely used as a treatment, but there are surprisingly very few rigorous studies comparing its effectiveness to placebo in adults.

Objectives: To measure the comparative efficacy of sodium oxybate at a dosage regimen of 9 g versus placebo in improving nighttime sleep quality, reducing nocturnal arousals and sleep stage shifts, and enhancing the overall refreshed nature of sleep in adult patients with narcolepsy.
