Objectives: This study aimed to define handgrip strength (HGS) cutoff points to predict 1-year mortality in adult patients with liver cirrhosis.
Methods: This is an analysis of cohort databases from four reference centers in Brazil. Inpatients or outpatients with cirrhosis and aged ≥18 years were included.
Objectives: Early clinical prognosis and mortality reduction remains a challenge in chronic liver disease (CLD). The full potential of the Nutritional Prognostic Index (NPI) for nutritional assessment and management in CLD patients remains unexplored. The aim of this study was to establish an NPI cutoff point for the identification of nutritional risk in advanced CLD (ACLD) patients, as well as to assess the NPI's ability to predict ACLD-associated mortality.

Most cases are sporadic, with few reports of familial cases, and many congenital hypopituitarism (CH) cases remain unsolved.
Objective: To search for candidate genes associated with this condition, we performed trio-based whole-exome sequencing (WES) on patients with EPP, including two familial cases.
Background: Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) results from the obstruction of the hepatic venous flow, usually at the level of the hepatic vein or inferior vena cava. When left untreated, it can progress with several complications, including liver cirrhosis. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) appears to be effective in a subgroup of BCS patients.

Mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC) estimates the skeletal muscle mass and is especially helpful in cases of fluid overload. This study aimed to propose MAMC cutoff points for patients with cirrhosis and demonstrate its association with 1-year mortality.
