Background: Hemorrhage control in prolonged field care (PFC) presents unique challenges that drive the need for enhanced point of injury treatment capabilities to maintain patient stability beyond the Golden Hour. To address this, two hemostatic agents, Combat Gauze (CG) and XSTAT, were evaluated in a porcine model of uncontrolled junctional hemorrhage for speed of deployment and hemostatic efficacy over 72 hours.
Methods: The left subclavian artery and subscapular vein were isolated in anesthetized male Yorkshire swine (70-85 kg) and injured via 50% transection, followed by 30 seconds of hemorrhage.
Electrochemical sensors and biosensors are useful techniques for fast, inexpensive, sensitive, and easy detection of innumerous specimen. In face of COVID-19 pandemic, it became evident the necessity of a rapid and accurate diagnostic test, so the impedimetric immunosensor approach can be a good alternative to replace the conventional tests due to the specific antibody-antigen binding interaction and the fast response in comparison to traditional methods. In this work, a modified electrode with electrosynthesized PEDOT and gold nanoparticles followed by the immobilization of truncated nucleoprotein (N aa160-406aa) was used for a fast and reliable detection of antibodies against COVID-19 in human serum sample.

We investigated the effect of preoperative vandetanib on markers of proliferation and apoptosis in breast cancer.
Methods: Patients with invasive breast cancer were randomly assigned vandetanib 300 mg or placebo PO daily for 2 weeks before operative resection from January 2014 to June 2017.
Mammary gland ductal morphogenesis depends on the differentiation of mammary stem cells (MaSCs) into basal and luminal lineages. The AP-2γ transcription factor, encoded by Tfap2c, has a central role in mammary gland development but its effect in mammary lineages and specifically MaSCs is largely unknown. Here, we utilized an inducible, conditional knockout of Tfap2c to elucidate the role of AP-2γ in maintenance and differentiation of MaSCs.

Calcineurin is a conserved virulence factor in many pathogenic fungi, and calcineurin inhibition or deletion of the calcineurin regulatory subunit (CnbR) in results in a shift from hyphal to yeast growth.
