A Survey Assessment of Psychological Safety in Colon and Rectal Surgery Residents and Comparison to General Surgery Residents.

Objective: Psychological safety (PS) is the shared belief that the team is safe for interpersonal risk-taking. Although some research has been conducted regarding PS in healthcare settings, there is minimal research in surgical training programs. Our objective was to study PS levels in colorectal surgery (CRS) residents.

The Multifactorial Memory Questionnaire and Quality of Life: A Longitudinal Study in Parkinson's Disease.

Background/objectives: Objective memory decline is associated with poor quality of life (QOL) in Parkinson's disease (PD, but it is unclear what role perception of memory (metamemory) plays. The Multifactorial Memory Questionnaire (MMQ) measures metamemory and is proposed to have a three-factor structure, but the factor structure of the MMQ in PD has not been explored. The current study examined (i) the factor structure of the MMQ in PD and (ii) the relationship between the metamemory and QOL in PD.

The heart adapts to cardiac demand through a variety of mechanisms. Some of these adaptations include chemical modifications of myofilament proteins responsible for cell contraction. Interestingly, many of these chemical modifications, such as phosphorylation, are found in unstructured, or intrinsically disordered, regions of proteins.

Continuous flow synthesis of alkynes from isoxazolones.

The development of a continuous flow approach for the generation of alkynes from isoxazolones under diazotisation conditions is reported. The underlying transformation has been known for several decades; however, in batch mode, it is plagued by variable yields, excessive use of sodium nitrite and limited scalability due to its exothermic nature and the release of copious amounts of toxic nitroxide gases. The presented flow approach overcomes these limitations and delivers various alkyne products in residence times of less than 1 minute with productivities of 2 g h.

A Rare Cause of Colon Perforation After Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy-A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Staghorn calculi pose challenges in urology, often necessitating more invasive procedures such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) to clear a large stone burden with fewer procedures. Here we present a case of a 76-year-old female with chronic kidney disease and a malrotated right pelvic kidney who underwent PCNL for a 3.5 cm staghorn calculus.
