Introduction: Despite randomized controlled trials (RCTs) largely supporting volar locking plates (VLPs) for the management of distal radius fractures (DRFs), surgeons often opt for non-invasive interventions such as casting. This study used the fragility index (FI), reverse fragility index (rFI), and fragility quotient (FQ) to assess the statistical robustness of RCTs assessing the efficacy of VLP in DRF management.
Methods: PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE were queried for RCTs evaluating VLP versus casting for DRFs published from January 1st, 2000-June 30, 2024.
Recent studies have revealed a role for zinc in insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis. Randomized placebo-controlled zinc supplementation trials have demonstrated improved glycemic traits in patients with type II diabetes (T2D). Moreover, rare loss-of-function variants in the zinc efflux transporter reduce T2D risk.

This study aimed to evaluate the epidemiology of e-bike-related concussions and closed-head injuries (CHI) to inform more effective injury prevention strategies.
Methods: The National Electronic Injury Surveillance (NEISS) was queried for e-bike related concussions and CHIs presented to national EDs from 1 January 2013-31 December 2022.
